Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Conversion happens entirely inside your browser, on your own device. Your images are never sent to us or to any third party. That is a meaningful security difference for unreleased product shots, design drafts and client material you are not free to share.
Which format should I use for my website?

WebP is the balanced default in most cases: noticeably smaller than JPEG and supported by every modern browser. AVIF produces even smaller files but browser support is slightly narrower. For logos and anything needing transparency, use PNG or WebP.
How many images can I convert at once?
